Tata Steel Chess Tournament

The Tata Steel Chess Tournament is one of the most prestigious events in the international chess calendar. The “Wimbledon of Chess” attracts the very best chess grandmasters in the world, along with thousands of amateur players, live event visitors and online visitors from around the world. In 2020, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament celebrates its 82nd year.

The tournament has two main player groups, each with 14 players. They are known as the Tata Steel Masters and the Tata Steel Challengers. Both the Masters and the Challengers play their first round on Saturday 11 January 2020. The chess moves of both can be followed live online. In addition to Grandmaster events, the Tata Steel Chess Tournament also organizes amateur events that are open to players of all levels.
